The Social Stars Club (Twos & Threes; PreK & Five-Six) is an after school program designed for all learners to harness their energy and potential by teaching them to listen, pay attention, manage behavior and get along with others in a group setting. When students enter kindergarten with self-regulation and a social-emotional foundation, they are ready to learn. The Social Stars Club will be facilitated with an evidence-based Second Step Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum to set up children for success.

Specifically, the program promotes success by directly teaching children the skills that strengthen their ability to learn, have empathy, manage emotions, make friends, and solve problems.

Children will eat lunch and will play on the playground in addition to the scheduled activities.

Social Stars Clubs are divided into groups (Twos & Threes; PreK & Five-Six) and are offered on Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m.  Class days depend on enrollment.

Early Literacy Club (Threes)

BookWorms Club is specifically designed for Threes to promote reading readiness. BookWorms Club will help mold and stretch children’s thinking, promote creativity, and develop early literacy understanding.  Through the exploration of storybooks and beloved children's literature authors, children will engage in activities to identify letters and sounds, experiment with early writing, foster an appreciation for storytelling, explore different genres, and gain an understanding of beginning comprehension.  Projects include creating homemade books, using pops to tell and listen to a story, and drawing and writing to tell a story.

Children will eat lunch and will play on the playground in addition to the scheduled activities.

BookWorms Club is offered on Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.  Class days depend on enrollment.

Children will also be exposed to environmental print, different genres of text, tracking words on a page, and text features.  Letter and sound recognition learned in The Preschool's morning program will also be reinforced.

The club will prepare students for future exposure to technology and computer science curriculums and will give students a strong head start in general music and performance curriculums. The club will also help foster a more conscious and purposeful interaction with technology in students’ day-to-day lives.

Throughout the school year, students will learn computational thinking and apply it in a variety of different environments. Students who have no prior experience with computers or music will quickly use technology to record, program, and otherwise produce their own songs to share and enjoy.  Students will develop a critical awareness of the relationship between technology, learning, and problem-solving.
